Today I am linking up with Forever in 5th Grade for a fun little thing called Show and Tell Tuesday. So today I am going to show you 4 pictures of things that are going on in my life and tell you about them.
I love being a teacher but I got to wear my most favorite ‘hat’ of all at the beginning of this month…my mom hat. I was so happy to be able to attend my youngest son’s Mother’s Day Tea in 1st grade.
The event got me reminiscing about each Mother’s Day Tea I attended with my other two children as well when they were in 1st grade. Below is a collage of each of their 1st grade teas. It makes my mommy heart melt! (top left: Jacob now age 15, top right: Jolie now age 12, bottom left: Jagger, age 7.)
We hatched chickens in my 2nd grade classroom and actually got to watch our first chick emerge from its egg. It was nothing short of amazing! We got to see the entire thing unfold before our very own eyes in real time. The class recorded this time lapse video of it on the class iPad.
Since this was the first chick to hatch the class named it…Uno.
Over the weekend two more little chicks hatched! There is nothing cuter than a little fuzzy-bottomed chick.
This past weekend we spent Saturday evening riding a 4-wheeler and side-by-sides with about 25 of our friends. The weather was a surprising 42 degrees so we had to really layer on the clothing. Despite the cool weather everyone enjoyed the ride, friendship, and the mud!
I love creating and decorating. I get inspired when I see something beautiful in nature or a really amazing piece of art. Lately, I have been having a lot of fun trying to come up with my new classroom theme for next school year. I saw a cute sign at Hobby Lobby that inspired me to start working on a Nautical Classroom decor pack. I cannot wait to decorate my room with it next school year!
Welcome to Winner Wednesday! This linky is hosted by A Dab of Glue Will Do and Sara J Creations and takes place the first Wednesday of every month. I will pick a product from my store, share it in detail with you, and give you a chance to win the product for FREE. All you have to do to enter to win is enter your name in the Rafflecopter. Don’t procrastinate entering…it only lasts one day!
This month I am giving away a brand new product. Cuckoo for Time contains activities for telling time to the hour, half hour, and quarter hour.
Students can use the clocks as task cards and log the answers on the record sheet.
The cards can be used to match the digital clocks to the analog clocks like we did below. We also plan to play the game of Concentration (or Memory) with the digital and analog clocks.
Students used these task cards and read the digital time written and then drew the hands in the correct place.
Pull out all the task cards by their number in the bottom corner and match them to their log sheet and you have a mixed review activity. I had to hand write my numbers with a Sharpie because I printed and laminated my task cards then realized I needed to place numbers in the corners of each card within the product file. You live and you learn, right?
Storage was a snap. I labeled my zip top bags and found this handy snap file folder pouch at Dollar Tree to store it all in.
Enter the Raffelcopter below for your chance to win Cuckoo for Time. The winner will be announced Thursday, May 5th by email. Thanks for stopping by!
May is here! I find that May is probably one of the most exhausting months to teach in. The children sense the end of school is near and I am physically and mentally drained. “You’ve got this. Finish Strong” is going to be my mantra to get me through the rest of the month.
We make these adorable fingerprint flowers into bookmarks to give to our moms each year. I also laminate for durability and add a ribbon tassel to the top.
We are working on habitats in 2nd grade. Each students will be drawing and watercolor painting their choice of biomes. Then they are going to choose an animal from their habitat of choice and mold it into the animal shape with air dry molding clay.
This week we are finishing up our chapter on telling time. I have plans to do this with my kiddos; except I am using pretzel rods instead of Twizzlers.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you find some fun ideas to finish out your school year. Finish strong!
