After graduating college, I moved back to my happy hometown and began my teaching career in the same building I went to elementary school in. I have been teaching at the same small rural southern Illinois school for 16 years now. I love everything that teaching in a small town has to offer. I love the families, knowing everyone, how it takes a while to get from place to place, and how there is beautiful scenery to enjoy as I travel to and from each place. Mostly, I love that when my students leave Room #7 they really don’t leave me. I see them in the hallway, I see them at the ballgame, I see them growing into young men and women. We are a small community and that pleases this hometown happy teacher beyond measure.
